Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India adopted a methodology to rank Institution of higher education in India which was known as national institutional ranking network i.e NIRF launched on 29th September 2015. Various parameters like resources, research, and stakeholder perception are taken into consideration while ranking. Around 3500 institutions voluntarily participated in the first round of rankings. The ranking was first issued in the year 2016. For the 2020 rankings, around no of the institutions participated in the process increased drastically.
