The word Samveda means 'Mama' Mantras compiled in the Anthem 'Samaveda' were sung at the time of praising the gods. There are a total of 1875 hymns in the Samaveda. Of which 75 additional are taken from the Rigveda. These verses were sung by 'Udgata' at the time of Somayagya. Samadeva has three important branches - Kauthumiya, Jaiminiya, and Ranayani. From the point of view of the deity, the principal deity of the Samaveda is 'Savita' or 'Surya', it mainly contains mantras to praise the sun, but Indra Som also has enough description in it. Samaveda has made a significant contribution to the field of the history of Indian music. It can be called the origin of Indian music. The first seer of the Samaveda is believed to be Jaimini, a disciple of Ved Vyasa. Samaveda means that the texts whose mantras can be sung and which are musical. These mantras are sung at the time of Yajna, Ritual, and Havan. The Samaveda originally contains 99 mantras and the rest is derived from the Rigveda. It has a compilation of useful mantras of the inaugural class of Yagyanishthan. It is named Samaveda because it contains only fixed chants for singing.
