Plasmodium is a digenetic, malarial parasite. Its primary host is female Anopheles an intermediate host is a man. The life cycle of plasmodium in man is divisible into the exoerythrocytic cycle and erythrocytic. When a female anopheles sucks the blood of the infected human host, it receives RBCs containing different stages of the erythrocytic cycle. All the stages except gametocytes are digested in the gut of the mosquito. However, gametocytes hatch out RBCs is in the stomach and become active to start sexual cycle.
