In the India Innovation Index Report 2020 released by NITI Aayog, Karnataka topped the category of big states. This index has been developed to improve the innovative ecosystem of Indian states and union territories and to formulate policies related to innovation in these areas. The success of the state has been attributed to high venture capital deals, registered geographical indicators, information and communication technology exports, and high FDI flows.
